Spotlight on: Burnie 10, Tasmania

The famous University of Tasmania Burnie 10 returned to reality in 2021 - a huge feat for any event in such an unbeleivable year.

Nearly 2000 participants had their bones rattled by a F-35A Lightning II fighter jet that flew all the way from Newcastle for an event flyover to help re-launch the event under new management.

It was great to see so many people take the start line in the 10km and 5km events, with a virtual options till available for those who couldnt make it due to border restrictions.

South Australian housemates Caitlin Adams (32:31) and Isaac Heyne (29:24) added their names to the 10km honour role, as the 37th winners of the iconic event.

Some major covid requirements for event day included new waves, mask wearing and spectator no-go zones. The UTAS Burnie Ten will celebrate its 38th year in 2022, and we hope to see borders open and all restrictions finally eased so we can all get back out there doing what we love.
