Mass participation sports events are an invaluable contributor to the physical and mental wellbeing of Australians and local communities. AMPSEA provides a united voice for Australian Event Operators who deliver these events – our priority is to support our industry to thrive, prosper and continue to deliver world-class event experiences.
Executive Statement
The Australian Mass Participation Sporting Events Alliance was formed in May 2020 by a group of industry leaders to bring our industry together as we battled through the financial impacts of the COVID- 19 pandemic. Our purpose was to find a way to return to the delivery of mass participation sporting events and ensure the survival of the industry.
Each year, millions of Australians participate in fun runs, marathons, ocean swims, ironman events, community cycling and challenging obstacle course racing. These mass participation sporting events bring people together, benefit public health, create jobs, drive growth in regional economies and raise millions of dollars for charity.
AMPSEA believes that the industry is critical to the health and wellbeing of Australians and communities throughout the country. Post-pandemic, the focus of AMPSEA is to support and build the industry, ensuring its long-term success and sustainability.
The industry as a whole and events individually, historically, have operated in competition with each other. Through and since Covid, the industry has undergone some consolidation and we are seeing far more co-operation and mutual support across the industry. AMPSEA is focussed on promoting intra-industry co-operation, for the benefit of all involved in the industry as, simply: “the whole is greater than the sum of the individual parts”.
